Chlorhexidine gluconate is a chemical aniseptic that kills bacteria, fungi and some viruses. It is used as a cleanser and external treatment to aid in the healing of wounds on the skin or in the mouth and ears of many animals. Aids in treatment of yellow fungus disease and mouth rot in reptiles, or makes a great daily sanitizer. Many reptile owners use chlorhex to sanitize everything, from enclosures to the animals. A must have for any reptile first aid kit.
For daily use as an aniseptic or disinfectant, add 1 oz to 1 gallon of water
Safe to use in, on or around animals when diluted to recommended ratios
Use as an antiseptic flush for treating minor scrapes or abrasions
Treat areas of skin affected with yellow fungus two or three times per day using a soft tooth brush to get under scales and remove dead tissue
Alternate with povidone iodine skin treatments when treating skin diseases
Use as a rinse for treating mouth rot two or three times daily
Makes a great daily disinfectant for cleaning up after animals, wipe down hard surfaces after removal of excrement
