Sometimes dragons have difficulty shedding and can end up with dry, dead skin that doesn't want to come off very easily. This is usually retained shed and can be caused by dehydration, dry environment, or maybe for no reason in particular. It is important to hydrate your animal with plenty of fluids offered orally while applying moisturizing treatments to the affected skin areas. If retained shed does not come off within one week, professional help or severe shedding treatments may be necessary.
Vegetable glycerin is a humectant or water retaining substance that can be used to moisten the skin so that it loosens and becomes more flexible. Glycerin is also water soluable, so it can be added to baths or made into a spray. Coconut, apricot and almond oils are very light and will help protect the skin by keeping moisture in, vitamin E is an antioxidant that also preserves naturally, collagen is a protein found naturally in the skin and silk amino acids will help condition skin. These ingredients do not smother the skin and are safe to use on large areas, everything is non-toxic and 100% edible.
For retained shed, apply a couple drops two or three times per day to the affected area and work into the skin with a soft brush.
Contains Grapefruit Seed Extract as a natural preservative. Can be refrigerate for freshness over long periods.
